Global Rice Shortage

I can’t even imagine what the world would be like without enough rice to go around. I was pondering that contingent while reading this article this morning. Although the article focuses specifically on the drought in Australia, apparently there are problems world-wide regarding rice production. In the olden days, during my stint in Hawaii, rice was the only thing that I could afford to eat (mostly because of my expensive surfboard buying habit). I would buy those huge bags of it for like $5 and eat it all week long. I would fill up the rice cooker to maximum capacity and just load it up with butter and pepper. Kind of bland, but it did the trick. If rice would have been unavailable, or even anymore expensive, I would have been in big trouble. Anyway, someone sent me this link a while ago. Click through if you want to help with the rice shortage problem. It is almost as fun as chicktionary, and it makes you feel good about yourself. Instead of just wasting time and company money, it helps you feel like you are actually helping those in need.
