La Musica Coolica #86 (The Shins)

First of all– Thanks again, Pete, for picking up the whole month of October with such a sick selection of cover songs. A couple (that means two) posts ago, I was blabbering about how I was stoked to have access to music that puts me in a good mood. Yeah, man. The Shins put me in a good mood. They were on the SubPop (the same label Nirvana started out on). If only there would have been a little more Shins music for Kurt to listen to, in his gloomy patches. Some very unfortunate incidents may have been avoided. I love these guys so much that I had a really hard time trying to decide what song to share. Ultimately, I decide on “So Says I.” But I can’t say it’s my favorite, because I really like too many of their songs. Anyway, listen to it and get happy if you are less than happy; get happier, if you are already happy.

Bonus: “Saint Simon.” What? Yes, I’m sharing two tracks today. This is my blog. I can do whatever I want.

Both of these tracks are from the “Chutes too narrow” disc. But, I don’t want to give the impression that their other albums aren’t equally good. Next week: Rihanna. Did you see her on SNL? Girl is amazing. The end.

  1. I heart this band.

  2. The Saint Simon track is particularly great. If only they were still undiscovered so getting tickets to their shows would be possible!
