La Musica Coolica #101 (Phoenix)

Despite what I like to tell myself, not everything French is total crap. Some French stuff is actually quite good. Phoenix, for example, is pretty decent. I have to admit that I’m not super familiar with their work outside of their most recent studio album release “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.” The album is pretty good. But what is even better, in my opinion, are the stacks of remixed tracks from that album.  I have previously used one of such tunes for one of Reagan’s little hair tutorials. The track that I’m sharing here is the 25 Hrs a Day remix of “Fences.” Give it a spin.

I’ve liked what I have heard from Phoenix so far, I really like that re-mix! I should check out their older stuff. My friend wanted me to go to the concert with her when they came here, but I only knew a couple songs, so I didn’t. It would have been cool seeing Phoenix in Phoenix. hahaha that would be like seeing Boston in Boston or Chicago in Chicago. I should have gone!

  2. Hahaha watch it with that “everything French is total crap” attitude if you find yourself in Paris. Nevermind, you’ll fit right in.

I have to admit, I don’t care for the latest Phoenix album, though I do like many of the remixed tracks. Alphabetical (2004) is my favorite of their albums, and It’s Never Been Like That (2006) is solid too.

    Cool scarf, rock star.

  3. I think Phoenix is one of the bands my husband has told me to listen to lately. Or maybe I’m getting them mixed up with Passion Pit (they’re probably nothing alike, right? Except they both start with P and somehow they are on my ipod even though I didn’t put them there)

  4. Phoenix and Air may be French but they sing in English; Gypsy Kings are French (gypsies) singing in Spanish. All three show up frequently in my iTunes playlists. So maybe it’s just the whole parlez vous francaise that I have a problem with.
