There comes a time in most uncle’s lives, when they basically don’t think that they could be any prouder of their little nieces and nephews. Right about that time, one of them picks up a skateboard, and starts shredding before they even make it into kindergarten. For me, that moment happened this weekend, when I saw this post on my sister’s blog.
^–Look at the expression on that face. She is not messing around. Maya showed up to skate, not talk about orcas or glow-in-the dark algal blooms, or whatever else is going on in extremely interesting Alaskan neighborhood.
^–Joel Tudor and Bonga Perkins, eat your hearts out. A normal freestyle deck is a longboard, when you are under 4 feet tall. And, oh what? Maya already knows how to grab melon? She is basically on par with Shaun White, when he was her age. Yeah, I’m Maya’s uncle and I couldn’t be prouder.

Great pictures. Cute kids. I love that their parents are teaching them to stick it to the man (the No Skatboarding photo). Ha ha ha. ๐
super cute kids! I love the no skateboarding! Oliver (same age as Piper) is asking Santa for a skateboard!
Okay so the No Skateboarding photo looks more rebellious than it is. We did not actually let them skate on the boardwalk, only on the pavement, where it is okay. I think running from the police comes a little later in her skating career. When her legs are a bit longer maybe.
Yup. Majuh cuteness. Majuh.
I full-on smiled upon reading, “Maya showed up to skate, not talk orcas…” I want to marry her off to my nephew Charlie someday. He shreds too.
Cuteness overload! Totally adorable…
Oh man, that is adorable. What a totally cool niece you have!
Great post. Love her perfect form in the last picture! My daughter got a skateboard for her birthday but shredding with princesses looking up at you just isn’t quite as cool ๐
