Camper Van Beethoven is the group that eventually became Cracker. Although they could definitely be classified as rock, they have a kind of unique sound. I’m sure that the fact they have a violin in the mix, has a lot to do with it.
I really got into these guys during high school. I was also into Cracker, after the metamorphosis. As a matter of fact, my high school garage-band covered a song by Cracker. Remember that, Sarah? It is kind of a bummer that what is probably their most well known song (besides “Take the Skinheads Bowling”) is a cover. I guess that there are kind of a lot of bands like that, though.
The cover that I’m referring to is called “Pictures of Matchstick Men.” What is worse, is that I’m going to contribute to the problem by sharing that particular song in this post. It is from the album entitled “Key Lime Pie,” which coincidentally is one of my favorite (if not my very favorite) desserts. So here is the song. Don’t listen if you hate violins. Press Play.
