Soupy Weather

Yesterday, New York City finally decided to slip out of the extremely pleasant and mild mid-80’s, low humidity, straight into the dog days. I went for a very short run last night (14 minutes long) solely for the purpose of calibrating my new sportband, when I got home from work. It literally took me over an hour to stop sweating, afterward. So gross. This morning, we have so much ground level ozone, that it almost looked like fog, earlier. Here are a couple of shots across the harbor, that I just barely took. There is so much water in the air, that you can practically swim.

I certainly hope that the humidity can relax a little bit for the weekend. Because, I feel like we have a pretty good one cued up.

Friday Night: Jaws on the Intrepid. One of my favorite movies of all time. I probably watched it on VHS during sleep-overs at my friend Josh Bell’s house at least 25 times before I was even 10 years old. Plus I think it is awesome that Quint (the crazy shark fisherman) was written after a real guy named Frank Mundus , who used to run charter white shark fishing trips off Montauk.

Saturday: Central Park Conservancy 4 mi. race in Central Park. I’m pretty excited about it. Our last race was 3 weeks ago, and I haven’t done a whole lot of running in the interim, because of my stupid ITB knee pain. I feel like the last couple of runs it has been better, though. I’m also excited, because some of our friends will be running with us.

In the afternoon, we will most likely be popping Advil and kicking it with Piper.

In the evening, we will be attending the wedding reception of some of our friends from church.

Sunday: Church, Piper, Bike ride. Pretty much ideal.

How do I have so much time to list out the inane details of my weekend plans? Well, I still don’t have a whole lot going on in my new practice group at work. Plus it’s Friday. I’m hoping that things pick up a bit next week. Fingers crossed.
