La Musica Coolica #30 (CP)

Yes, Coldplay. I’m pretty sure that everyone knows them well, and has an opinion about them. I am not going to pretend like I have always been on the bandwagon here. I HATED “yellow.” It has to be one of the most overplayed singles of all time. I was so irked by it, that I was almost turned off to Coldplay entirely. By the grace of goodness, I was exposed to the entire Parachutes album soon after its release, on a road trip. I was instantly a fan (except for “yellow,” of course. Which my fellow road trippers graciously agreed to skip, for me). The song that I’m sharing today was released on the Japanese edition of the “Clocks” single. It’s called “Crest of Waves.” If you like Coldplay, you will probably like this song. So here it is.

  1. Bunch of knob-headed art students, in Liam Gallagher’s and my shared opinion.

  2. @Kelvis (your sister in law): If by “knob” they (and you) mean, not large enough to hold the massively swollen ego like those possessed by the Gallagher brothers, then I also agree. But if we are talking about the general British slang definition of “knob,” I would have to say to the Gallaghers: It takes one to know one. Hahahaha

  3. ooh, I like this one!

  4. I agree about ‘yellow’, so overplayed. I have to say thought, that I am a pretty huge fan of ‘Viva la Vida’.

  5. Hmmph. I think in this case “knob” means over-exposed, over-produced, samey-same etherial music set to psuedo-deep lyrics sung in falsetto and accompanied by a fashionably tousled style and cause de jour politics designed to appeal to college coeds. Oasis is a bunch of jerks, agreed, but at least they rock.

  6. Noel Gallagher on Coldplay: “Liam f*cking hates them – thinks their stuff sounds like Annie Lennox, but Liam can be a f*cking idiot sometimes.”
