Engineering Mario and Luigi style

I saw this on the way back from moving the car this morning. It was pouring out. So, I didn’t really pause long enough to get a good shot. But, this modern engineering marvel (isn’t there a discovery channel show with that name?) is installed just a few doors up from our building. The handrail had apparently broken off of the vertical rods. So the super, who clearly descends from a long line of plumbers (not welders), just made this one out of 2″ copper tubing and a couple of elbow joints. After soldering it all up, he strapped it in place with a couple of pipe fasteners. Functional and flashy. There aren’t a whole lot of copper handrails in this hood. Maybe it will start a trend. On a day like today though, a person is likely to end up with a green hand after using that handrail. One of the perks, I guess.
