Depending on where you live in Manhattan, you can encounter some kinda cool stuff on the curb, on garbage day. Any given day, you can peruse the “curb alert” postings in the “free stuff” section of Craigslist and read about all of the awesome stuff in the more affluent parts of the island. Anyway, most of the stuff on the curb in our neighborhood is either total crap, has bed bugs, or both. Yesterday morning when I was finishing up my run, I came across this old school rocking chair. I thought it looked like a pretty fun project. So last night after work, I totally dismantled it and sanded it down and fixed it. I was able to reassemble the upper section last night, and the lower section this morning. This afternoon I painted it. I feel like it turned out pretty well. The thing was ancient. It had about 1000 layers of paint. I think that it may actually be a legitimate antique. This was the first time that I have ever partaken in the sport of curb shopping. It was kind of fun. Here are a couple more pictures of the before, after and during, process.
