Don’t you just love ordering things online? Whenever I indulge in this activity, I’m reminded of a sequence from the movie Best in Show. In the movie, Parker Posey’s character is a lawyer who orders the majority of her wardrobe from the L.L. Bean catalogue. There is a scene where she is contemplating how awesome it is to live in an age where, rather than having to deal with annoying crowded stores, you can just pick up the phone… or not. I have to admit that I subscribe to this ideology. Of course in my case, I’m not even picking up the phone. Instead I’m just clicking “checkout.”
The online shopping phenomenon is so great for two reasons. The first one is that, when I need something, I don’t actually have to go anywhere. All I have to do is take small break from my work, and open a browser. In addition to the convenience factor, is the excitement factor. After I make the purchase, I may as well put together a small advent calendar counting down the days until arrival, because getting new stuff in the mail is as cool as Christmas.
Since Reagan and I now have bikes, we decided that it was high time that we had some new backpacks to go with them. Last Friday, I went to the DaKine site and found some pretty sweet ones for us. I ended up ordering them through Tactics.com. Yeah, I’m not afraid to give them a little plug right here. Even though I haven’t received my stuff yet, I was pretty pleased with their site. Anyway, according to the tracking info that I received, our backpacks should be arriving on Friday. Woo Hoo! I have already started making a paper chain to hang in my office.
