We has such an amazing little visit with Piper tonight. First of all, the weather tonight was phenomenal. We rode our bikes down to the hospital (thanks again, Tadd). Reagan was able to try out her new helmet. She did very well, for a person who was pretty nervous about riding the streets of NYC. When we arrived at the hospital, Piper was awake. This was really the first time in two weeks that I have seen her awake. I could tell right away that it was going to be a good visit. We were able to give her a bath and change her trache ties. So she was all clean and sweet smelling. Both Reagan and I were blown away with the amount of smiling that Piper was doing. They weren’t just random ones either. The smiles that she was firing off were all clear responses to things that she was observing. It was really cool for me to see her this way. We took a couple of videos and posted a load of pictures too. It was so great to have this kind of a visit with her tonight, especially in lieu of all of the bureaucratic stress that we have been dealing with lately. We actually had a meeting with her doctors and social worker, on Friday. Even though it was a productive meeting, it would be so nice to just be able to focus on helping Piper progress and not have to spend so much energy wading through all of the red tape.

I saw the vid of Pippy smiling. Adorable. And, it reminded me of when Reagan was a baby…you better look out, Piper is going to be getting out of chores and breaking curfew before you know it.
cheers,
Jody
