From the first few laps of FP1, Stoner has been on a mission this weekend. He pulled down times faster than anyone. But in the qualifier, he took the lid off of the can and went completely nuts. He will start on poll tomorrow, earned with the fasted lap time ever run on a motorcycle at the Assen circuit. I think that part of the reason that he does so well is that his hot little Australian wife is always there to encourage him and be his biggest fan. I’m pretty sure that if my hot little Tennesseean wife was ever watching me race, I would pretty much smoke everyone. Stoner will be joined on the front row by the usual suspects, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino, “the Doctor” Rossi. Stoner currently only trails Pedrosa by 3 points in the world championship standings. If someone doesn’t get an early jump on Stoner, I think that we can expect to see a repeat of last week, with Stoner being the lone man off in the horizon. Former world champion Nikki Hayden, who won this race last year, managed to qualify for a second row spot tomorrow. Lorenzo, who is still recovering from the nasty concussion and hand surgery will be starting from the third row.
