One of those days

You know that stupid video entitled “bad day” that people used to send around when funny email forwards first started to catch on? It was going around about the same time as the one with the monkey smelling his finger. I could probably link to it on youtube, but I’m assuming that you know the one I’m talking about (plus the lazy factor). It is the one where the guy is sitting in his cube typing. Then he starts pounding on the keyboard, and eventually smacks the monitor off of his desk, using the keyboard as a bat. Yeah dude, that guy is me, today. Network/software issues are annoying enough on a normal day. But on days where everyone is freaking out because of some retarded deadline and you have to keep rebooting because your outlook is hanging every time you get an incoming email, it takes a lot of strength to remind yourself that the world will still go on, even if you can’t finish your doc in the next 30 seconds. That was a pretty impressively long run-on sentence! Woo hoo. Anyway, I was having this recurring outlook issue. It was like when I would finally give up and restart the program I would have 3 emails with stuff like “how are we coming with X doc?” Or “lets try to get this out asap.” So I finally gave up and called IT, only to watch them remote onto my screen and do all of the stuff that I just tried. Sweet. Well, I survived. My outlook is still hanging. I’m guessing that it is network, because apparently some other people were having the same issue. That is my rant for today. To dispel any misgivings: I love my firm. I love my job. Sometimes I just hate computers. But most of the time I love them too.
