Today, of course is Fathers Day. I think that for the majority of my life I took for granted all of the great fathers that have helped to shape my life. I had the privilege of being best buddies with my great grandfather when I was just a little squirt. He would teach me how to spell when I could barely talk. He also seemed to have an endless supply of harmonicas. During the time that we lived next door to him, he must have given me one per week (or how ever long it took me to lose the one that he had just given me). Then of course there is my grandpa Breinholt. I was his neighbor too. I love it like crazy when we could ride his camper on our way up to the family reunions. I’m pretty sure that I first became interested in scouting and the outdoors because of him. The coolest thing that the two aforementioned fathers gave me, was my very own father. I’m pretty sure that he is the coolest dad that there ever was/is. I have him to thank for my insatiable curiosity of how things work. I can remember him including me in his repair and construction projects from when I’m sure that I was much more a liability to the situation, than I was any sort of valuable help. I also appreciate that, despite the fact that I had some pretty obvious aptitudes and even more obvious weaknesses, he never pushed me in any particular direction. Instead, he reinforced the idea that I would be able to achieve just about whatever I wanted to if I worked hard enough for it. I’m sure that I could go on for volumes, but at the risk of delving a little too far into the realm of sappy, I’ll just say that I think my dad is great and I sure love and appreciate him.

wow, Grandpa Great gave us harmonica’s too, I wonder how many he had a stash of or if we all just lost them at his house. How about his big gonging triangle? You have been really lucky to be such a part of great men, who influenced, you. I wish my family had lived closer. Or rather we had more opportunities to have the kind of relationships that all you younger cuzins had.
