Things have officially gone from crazy, to complete chaos

I got a call yesterday from Piper’s social worker, saying that Piper has been doing very well on the portable ventilator. She also informed me that, pending the processing of one of her medical care assistance applications, and no major episodes, Piper has a tentative discharge date of July 8. Whaaaaaatttt? That is so awesome/holy crap, I was not ready for that news! I am both elated and panic stricken as a result of this news. I’m elated about the fact that Piper may be coming home so soon, especially given the fact that I had my doubts about her ever being able to come home. Panicking because there is an enormous laundry list of items that Reagan and I have to get resolved before our home can be ready for Piper. The most stressfull item being, that we are going to need to relocate. The social worker said that although it isn’t ideal, it won’t be the end of the world if we can’t move before she comes home. Since Piper is still so small, getting her and the equipment up the stairs for a few weeks or a month could be doable. That doesn’t really ease the stress factor much though. We also still have to try to figure out how we are going to fit in the requisite training, before she is discharged. Anyway, hooray for Piper, that she is doing better than a lot of people speculated that she ever would.

That is so awesome! I remember the panic we had bringing Johnathan home. Luckily we didn’t have to move to have him come home. It’s great to hear she’s doing well!
