Piper’s Birthday!

It was so awesome to go visit Piper on her birthday and discover that she had been on the portable ventilator for 3 days and was tolerating it swimmingly. Nate and Melanie came on Tuesday night. So they were able to meet Piper for the first time on her birthday. One of Reagan’s long-time friends from TN was also in town, and came to New Brunswick for the occasion. It was Fun for her to be able to meet some new family and friends. When we arrived at Children’s specialized, we also discovered that she had a birthday sign up on her bed, and that she had several gifts from anonymous donors. The biggest surprise, of course, was the vent. I was floored. We encountered Piper’s doctor when we first came through the door onto Piper’s floor, and she gave us the news about how Piper had already been on it since Monday and was tolerating it so well. It will be so great if she can keep it up. Go Piper.
