Mannion, at it again.

For all of you Base58 fans, Steve Mannion has a new blog in which he posts songs (a long with a short blurb about them) beginning in the late 70’s working their way forward. They are mostly from same genre as his Base58 mashup material (electronica type stuff). For those of you who are not on the Base58 bandwagon. Check it out. It is run by a British DJ which I actually discovered in my first year of lawschool while doing copyright research. He came up because he was kind at the forefront of the whole mashup pheonom that was starting to materialize. I’m sure that it doesn’t take much mental effort to see why that could be relevant in the realm of copyright law. Anyway, over the years he has redone his site several times and a lot of his earlier work is no longer available, but there is still plenty of good material on there. If you listen to streaming stuff at work anyway, I strongly suggest any of his ultramixes. Occasionally I will even discover something that I freaking love in one of his mixes. Royksopp, for example, I had never hear of until 2003 when I downloaded one of his epic mashups that contained several snippets from their stuff. Which is kind of odd in and of itself because I love and am familiar with almost all of the Astralwerks peeps. Anyway, thanks to Mannion and Geico ads, those guys are now blowing up. Maybe I’m just a total nerd, but I can spend hours on his site being fascinated by the media contained thereon. I first saw this on there: DJ Sussex mixing Erika Badu and Portishead.
